There have been several reactions from social media users after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, announced that the petition to recall the senator representing Kogi Central at the National Assembly, Senator Natasha Akpoti has not met constitutional requirement.
This was contained in a post that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, shared on its official X handle on Thursday.
This is coming after members of the constituents of the Kogi lawmaker submitted a petition to INEC to recall her. It would be recalled that the decision was made after Natasha Akpoti was suspended for six months for violating some rules in the Senate.
However, in the post that INEC made on its official page, it was stated that the petition has not met the requirement of section 69(a) of the Nigerian constitution.
Here is what INEC wrote on its official X handle;
“The petition for the recall of the Senator representing the Kogi Central Senatorial District has not met the requirement of Section 69(a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended)”.
