The Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi has reacted after an X user claimed that some policemen collected the sum of N150,000 from him after seeing a Cryptocurrency Trading App on his phone.

The man claimed that he was first told to pay N200,000 before it was reduced to N150,000. He said he was taken to a POS merchant to make the payment.

Here is what he wrote on his page;

“They asked me to pay 200 thousand naira if I want to go home without being taken to the station. I was frightened. I told them I do not have that amount that I’m a student. Then they took me to a POS merchant. They said I should send N150,000 naira to the POS merchant”.

However, Muyiwa Adejobi has now reacted to the statement. In a post that he shared on his official X handle on Saturday, he said checking of people’s phones is not allowed.

He urged the X user to reach out to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin.

Here is what he wrote on his page;

“Checking of peoples phones by police operatives on the road is not allowed and the force has condemned such and we need to act on complaints like this. I urge him to reach out and relate with Benjamin or any of our help lines”.
