Prelate Emeritus of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence, Dr Samuel Kanu Uche, has accused disgruntled politicians of importing bandits from West Africa to sabotage the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking in an interview published by DAILY POST on Monday, March 23, 2026, the respected cleric warned that the country’s worsening insecurity is largely being fueled by political heavyweights who are desperate to see the current government fail.
He noted that the pattern of violence mirrors the chaos witnessed during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure, when insecurity was weaponized by those seeking to force him out of office.
Uche explained that much of the banditry and hoodlums terrorizing communities across Nigeria are not spontaneous but sponsored acts orchestrated by individuals with political interests.
His words: “The bandits and hoodlums are sponsored. Remember what happened during former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration? Insecurity was rampant because some people wanted him to leave the office. Currently, some people are importing bandits from West Africa to ensure the current administration is also ruined.”
He stressed that those behind the plot are ultimately harming themselves, likening their actions to a hen soiling its own eggs.
The Prelate Emeritus further stated that insecurity will persist unless there is genuine repentance from the political class, religious leaders, and traditional rulers.
He called for a change of heart and a renewed commitment to the nation, emphasizing that no amount of political maneuvering justifies destabilizing the country.
He also urged those angling for leadership positions ahead of the 2027 elections to prioritize love for the country and the capacity to govern over other considerations, such as age or regional affiliation.
According to him, what Nigeria needs are servant-leaders with godly hearts and a genuine desire to address the suffering of ordinary citizens. Read_More…
