ADC Chieftain, Dr. Umar Ardo has predicted that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi will retain his 6 million votes from 2023 but is unlikely to expand his support base in the 2027 election.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV from 6:53, Ardo analyzed voting patterns from the 2023 election to support his prediction about the upcoming electoral dynamics. “Look at the calculations. In 2023, President Tinubu got 8 something million votes. Of this, over 8 million votes, 63.66% of it comes from the north, and the north is not happy with him. Peter Obi will not lose his votes in 2027. His 2023 votes, he wouldn’t likely lose there. It is highly unlikely also, unless Peter Obi changes his strategy; he’s not also going to add any to his votes from 2023,” he stated.

Ardo suggested that Atiku Abubakar stands to benefit most from potential shifts in Northern voting patterns. “Then Atiku is not going to lose his 2023 votes. He has the opportunity to even add. Why? Because the president is going to lose his 63% of his votes in the north. The president was elected in 2023 by the north and the rest of the country. If the north says that they are not going to elect him now, it’s not because he has changed. He has not changed. He’s still the president. He’s still Bola Tinubu. What changed is his policies,” Ardo explained.

The ADC chieftain clarified his personal position while acknowledging his observations about regional sentiment.

Although he noted that he is not speaking for the entire North and knows where he will cast his vote in 2027, he highlighted that the constituencies he interacts with are not aligned with the current administration.
