Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, Omoyele Sowore has challenged the record of former Anambra State governor and Labour Party leader, Peter Obi questioning the quality and durability of his achievements in office.

Speaking during an interview on TV Platinum from 5:53, Sowore said Obi’s eight-year tenure as governor left little in terms of infrastructure that could still be considered functional or exemplary today.

“Peter Obi was governor of a state for 8 years, Anambra. Go and show me any school that Peter Obi built that you can send your child to, if you have children. Go and show me any hospital that Peter Obi built that you can go and take treatment if you are sick, that even Peter Obi himself can go to. Go and tell me any road he built 8 years ago that anybody is driving on today,” Sowore said.

The AAC leader accused Nigerian politicians, including Obi, of overstating their developmental records while in power, adding that the lack of sustainable infrastructure projects was part of the reason for the country’s slow progress. He argued that governance should be measured not by campaign rhetoric, but by the enduring quality of public institutions and facilities left behind.

Sowore, a long-time critic of the political establishment, insisted that Nigerians must demand verifiable and lasting results from their leaders, rather than relying on political branding. “Leadership is about building structures that outlive your tenure and benefit generations to come,” he stated.

His comments come amid ongoing debates about the performance of past governors now seeking higher office. The remarks are likely to spark further political exchanges between supporters of the AAC and the Labour Party as preparations for the next election gather pace.
