The former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi has taken to his official X account on Monday to react to several claims that he didn’t have the opportunity to meet the new Bishop of Rome, Pope Leo XIV.
This came after Pope Leo XIV was inaugurated as the new Bishop of Rome in Vatican on Sunday. According to report, the event was attended by several leaders across the world including President Tinubu.
Speaking after attending the event, the former governor of Anambra state confirmed that he didn’t have the opportunity to meet the Pope. Peter Obi stated that the reason was because he didn’t attend the Papal Audience.
He however, stated that the opportunity to meet the Pope personally is still available to those who want to do so.
He urged Nigerians to remain united and stop politicizing everything.
According to Peter Obi on his official X account;
“After the inaugural Mass, I did not attend the Papal Audience and therefore did not have the opportunity to meet the Holy Father personally. That honour was reserved for heads of state and accredited diplomats”.
