Peter Obi, the former Labour Party presidential candidate, has introduced a digital registration system and identity cards for supporters of his Obidient Movement, both in Nigeria and abroad. The initiative was announced in a joint statement by Dr. Yunusa Tanko, the movement’s National Coordinator, and Nana Kazaure, Director of Strategic Communications and Media as reported by Vanguard News on 26 April, 2025.

The newly launched ID cards include a QR code for verification purposes and display the national flag of the holder’s country of residence. According to the statement, this feature highlights the movement’s global reach and commitment to inclusivity. The registration portal accommodates Nigerians living abroad, ensuring that diaspora members can also participate. Each ID card carries the prefix “OBX,” unifying all registered supporters under a single identification system.

The QR code, located at the bottom right corner of the card, serves as a security measure, allowing members to authenticate their identity using a smartphone scanner. This feature is designed to foster trust among Obidient supporters, particularly in business and social interactions. By scanning the code, individuals can verify the legitimacy of an ID holder, ensuring transparency within the movement.

The initiative underscores the Obidient Movement’s emphasis on organization and secure networking, providing a structured way for members to connect both locally and internationally. The digital registration system reflects the growing influence of the movement, which continues to expand its reach beyond Nigeria’s borders. The introduction of these ID cards marks a step toward formalizing the movement’s structure while maintaining its core values of unity and credibility.
