The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has strongly opposed the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), highlighting the group’s violent actions that have led to the deaths of 175 security personnel.
According to Sahara Reporters, CNG denounces Kanu’s disregard for the judicial system and asserts that he must be held accountable to deter the strengthening of separatist movements.
The organization also criticizes Peter Obi, a former presidential candidate, for leveraging ethnic sentiments to advocate for Kanu’s release while pursuing national political ambitions.
According to CGN, ”Peter Obi and other Igbo leaders seeking Nnamdi Kanu’s Release should be declared terrorist”.
CNG warns northern voters to be cautious of supporting politicians who associate with IPOB, arguing that such affiliations overlook the suffering of Nigerians impacted by the group’s violent conduct.
Additionally, CNG reiterates its demand for international assistance to enable a peaceful separation of the South-East from Nigeria.
The group contends that the ongoing agitation for Biafra by IPOB undermines national unity and contributes to instability, representing a serious threat to the nation’s security and sovereignty.
