The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3rd Division of the Nigerian Army, Jos, Plateau State, and Commander of the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), Major General E.F. Oyinlola has assured Reverend Ezekiel Dachomo of maximum protection following reports that his life was under threat for speaking out against the killing of Christians in Northern Nigeria.
In a video posted by Voice TV from 2:42, Major General Oyinlola was seen addressing the clergyman directly during a visit to his church in Jos. The GOC’s visit came after rumours circulated that some groups had marked Rev. Dachomo for assassination because of his outspoken condemnation of attacks on Christian communities.
Speaking to the congregation, Oyinlola praised the pastor’s courage and reassured him of divine and military protection. “Pastor, I heard you say that you are ready to die, put your life. I want to assure you that nobody can kill you until God says it’s time for you to come home,” he said.
His remarks drew applause from worshippers and have since gone viral on social media, sparking conversations about the need to protect voices that stand against injustice and religious violence.
Rev. Dachomo, known for his bold criticism of insecurity and his advocacy for peace in Plateau State, has repeatedly called on authorities to defend vulnerable communities from recurring attacks.
Major General Oyinlola reiterated that the Nigerian Army remains fully committed to safeguarding all citizens, regardless of their faith, and ensuring peace across the North-Central region.
