In a recent interview with Channels Television, Hon. Abu Umoru, a member of the Benue House of Assembly, highlighted the severe security crisis in Benue State, Nigeria, particularly in Apa Local Government Area (LGA). Umoru stated, “Our people are farmers, but currently, no one can go to the farms. The herdsmen have uprooted our yams, and we feel helpless.”

The ongoing attacks by herdsmen have disrupted agricultural activities, resulting in significant casualties and displacement.

He also said that Over 11 people have been killed, one is missing, and several are critically ill, with the community deserted due to the violence that has persisted since March of the previous year. This situation underscores the urgent need for effective security measures to protect lives and livelihoods in the region.
