Former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola has opened up about his family life, career journey, and life after retirement in an exclusive interview with The Punch Newspapers on Sunday, 9 November 2025. The respected jurist, who served as Nigeria’s 18th Chief Justice described himself as a fulfilled man blessed with a supportive family.

Reflecting on his private life, Ariwoola said he is “fortunate to have just one wife,” with whom he shares five children, three daughters and two sons. He disclosed that one of his sons is already a judge, continuing the family’s strong legal tradition. “I am fortunate to have just one wife, and we have five children; three girls and two boys. One of our sons is now a judge, and one of our daughters is a lawyer who works as a Senior Registrar at the FCT Customary Court of Appeal,” he said.

According to him, his children have pursued diverse paths both within and outside Nigeria. “Our eldest daughter is in the United States; our second son is studying in Washington DC; and our last daughter studied Environmental Health Sciences and currently supports her older sister, who recently had triplets. My wife has been in Canada with them,” he added.
