Akinola Olasunkanmi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who witnessed the killing of Remi Abass, the reinstated chairman of Irewole Local Government in Osun State, has shared more details about the sad incident

Speaking in an interview with TVC, Olasunkanmi said he was one of those who accompanied Abass to the council secretariat to assume his office on that faithful day. He said when they arrived, they met members of the opposing party along with armed thugs. He explained that as soon as Abass stepped out of the vehicle, he was shot immediately.

Olasunkanmi further revealed that after Abass was gunned down, the attackers went a step further by pouring acid on him.

In Olasunkanmi’s words: “He was ready, we were with (Abass), we backed him to the council but on getting there we met PDP people with their thugs fully armed. Unfortunately, immediately he stepped down, he was gunned down and acid was poured on him. He was killed cruelly”
