Pastor Tunde Bakare, the presiding overseer of the Global Community Citadel Church, has raised serious concerns, saying that Nigeria is slipping into tyranny and experiencing open abuse of power under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking during his state of the nation address for the Easter celebrations, Bakare shared his deep worries about the direction the country is heading under the current government.
He pointed out that democracy is being weakened, especially blaming the collapse of the legislature. He described it as a “bastion of democracy” that is now failing under the President’s leadership.
However, while he was reacting to Pastor Tunde Bakare’s speech during an interview (Between 52-54 minutes) on Trust TV, Professor Usman Yusuf, a former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), said that he was impressed by what the man of God said in his message.
He said, “I heard a very beautiful message…Pastor Tunde Bakare during this Easter, talking to the president, and members of the National Assembly. This is what all men of God, in all religions should be telling our leaders that people are suffering. The government is the one responsible for the suffering of our people. This is what religious leaders should be talking about not fighting themselves, or getting money and keeping quiet. One thing about Christians is speaking the truth. That is what the scripture put on clerics all over the world. No cleric should sit down watching his people suffering and dying of hunger, while in his house, he has a big bag of rice that came from Abuja, and keep quiet. This is not going to end there, it will all consume us.
