The Chairman of Economic Financial Crime Commission, Ola Olukoyede has revealed how they convicted a pastor from his own denomination in the Redeemed Christian Church of God. He also revealed that they have convicted individuals from diverse religious backgrounds, including pastors, Imams, and Herbalists.

He emphasized that religious titles do not provide immunity against corruption, highlighting the pervasiveness of unethical behavior across different communities. He further challenged individuals, especially religious leaders and public officers, to examine their integrity by ensuring they can legitimately defend their possessions. He argued that the ability to transparently account for one’s assets is the foundation of true integrity. He called for a broader societal commitment to ethical conduct and personal accountability.

He said in a live coverage with Channels TV From 9:18, ”In the cause of my working in the anti corruption environment, I have had cause to convict Pastors, Imams, and Herbalists. It’s not a palatable story for me to say but the mere fact that somebody says he’s a pastor or he’s a Christian or he’s a Muslim or an Imam does not build an insulation around you that you are not corrupt.

One of the pastors that we convicted was a pastor in my own denomination in the RCCG. It might not be a good story to tell but that is the reality. How many of us can defend ourselves as a pastor or as a public officer. Everything I own today, I can legitimately defend them. And that is the beginning of the test of integrity.”….Seë_Morë
