In a video shared on Channels TV from 8:13, former Edo State Governor and current senator, Adams Oshiomhole, stirred laughter and applause as he remarked: “I’m a Catholic; you rescued me from applying for a visa to come to Edo State.”
Speaking at a well-attended APC gathering in Benin City, Oshiomhole humorously described how the atmosphere in the state has changed under the new administration. He recalled that at one point, political tension had reached a level where it felt as though he needed special permission to visit his own state, adding that the current governor had now “rescued” him from that situation.
While addressing the audience, which included APC governors, ministers, lawmakers, and party leaders, Oshiomhole praised the governor’s style of leadership and his efforts to unite party members across Nigeria. He also commended recent federal policies under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, citing the introduction of student loans, tax relief for small businesses, and reforms to strengthen the naira.
The senator spoke passionately about the need to “educate the man on the street” about the economic choices made by the previous administration that contributed to current challenges, while expressing optimism about the new direction the country is taking.
The event, marked by laughter, applause, and moments of reflection, brought together key figures from the South-South and beyond to celebrate not just an individual, but the collective political progress in Edo State.
