Rivers State elder statesman and Niger Delta activist Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe has accused NNPCL CEO Bayo Ojulari of halting the Warri Refinery when it was on the verge of resuming production.

Speaking during an interview with Symfoni TV from 4:29, Chief Sara-Igbe criticized the decision to stop operations at a facility that had nearly completed its restart preparations. “Warri Refinery was almost at the point of production before he came, and he stopped it,” he said.

The Niger Delta activist explained the costly consequences of shutting down refineries that are ready to operate. “And when you stop production, when you stop the plant, for you to bring back the plant requires a lot of money. You’ve spent so much money to start the refinery. So when they are already on stream, you came in and you stopped all of them without minding how much the country is losing, without minding the output these refineries will give to the country,” Chief Sara-Igbe stated.

He connected increased domestic refining capacity to lower fuel prices through basic economic principles. “We are talking about the price of oil. When the supply is more than demand, definitely the price will crash. Like I predicted last year that when the Dangote refinery is fully on stream, the price will crash. And we are seeing that he has been crashing the price,” he explained.

Chief Sara-Igbe argued that bringing government refineries online would further reduce petroleum costs. “If we are able to get the other refineries on stream and even bottleneck them to increase more production, the price will go down. But that is not where his focus is. What we are saying is that his focus is how to sell the refineries,” Chief Sara-Igbe alleged. See, More, Here>>>
