Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Prof Chidi Odinkalu has reacted after the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a restraining order to the National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, David Mark and National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola.

Chidi Odinkalu’s statement was contained in a post that he shared on his official X handle on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

In the document that surfaced online, the court told David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola to stop parading themselves as leaders.

According to report, this is coming after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, recognized the new leadership of the African Democratic Congress.

“An order of interim injunction restraining the 4th defendant from recognizing the second and third defendants as National Chairman and National Secretary”.

However, Chidi Odinkalu has now shared his thoughts after the report surfaced online. In a post that he shared on his official X handle, he said he knew that a judge will order the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC not to recognize David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola.

Here is what Chidi Odinkalu wrote on his official X handle;

“I knew it was only a matter of time before a judge will strike and surely one has struck with an ex parte order restraining INEC from recognizing David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola”.
