Former Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has expressed strong disappointment over the recent problems with the JAMB examination that led to the cancellation of results for thousands of students in Lagos and the South East. These students are now being asked to retake the exams because of human and technical errors.

In her reaction via her X account (formerly Twitter), Dr. Ezekwesili said that the situation is a perfect example of how pretending to know something can be worse than not knowing at all. She believes the officials in charge should have acted more quickly and with honesty once they noticed strange patterns in the results, especially in the five southeastern states.

She criticized the Ministry of Education and JAMB for quickly blaming students and others who raised concerns, instead of doing a proper investigation. According to her, their explanations lacked real evidence and were based only on weak guesses.

Dr. Ezekwesili also said that technical issues must always be handled by professionals, not by people who are unqualified or dishonest. She warned that the current system is being damaged by political and intellectual leaders who are not doing their jobs properly.
