Datti Baba Ahmed, the former vice presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has explained why he is the one making efforts to unite the two factions of the party.

In an interview with Arise TV from 8:44, Ahmed said Peter Obi has been very busy with personal and public matters recently. He said Obi has been handling issues related to damage done to his younger brother’s company. He also said that Obi recently traveled to Daura for the funeral of former President Muhammadu Buhari. In addition, Ahmed said that a state governor recently warned Obi not to visit his state, adding to the pressure on him.

Ahmed said that Obi has a lot on his plate and might not always feel comfortable asking others to help him with some tasks. He said this is why he chose to take the lead in attending a recent meeting with the Abure-led faction of the Labour Party to help settle internal disagreements.

Ahmed also said that Obi was fully aware of his actions and that he always keeps him informed. He said true leadership is about taking initiative when it’s needed, especially during challenging times.

In Ahmed’s words: “Not too long ago, his younger brothers’ company or property was smashed and I know he has been busy at that. He went to Daura for the funeral of Buhari. And in the last week also one governor has been on his case that he should not travel. I don’t know which state it is but I know there is a state which the governor says he should not come, I understand that Peter Obi’s cup is full many times. And maybe he is shy to say, ‘You get up and go do these things'”
