A close political associate of Peter Obi, Hussaini Ibrahim has called on supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to respect the Obedient Movement and stop spreading claims that Obi has agreed to serve as Atiku’s running mate in the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking in an interview on Trust TV from 3:42, Ibrahim expressed disappointment at the manner in which some People’s Democratic Party loyalists have been handling political discussions surrounding the 2027 elections. He insisted that the Obedient Movement remains strong and independent, and should not be undermined.

“I think the people and supporters of PDP and Atiku are supposed to have a little bit of respect for the Obedient Movement,” he stated during the interview. “We went into Labour Party, we garnered almost 6 million votes allocated to us by INEC, which we know we have more than that if we had a full structure of agents that would protect our votes.”

Ibrahim emphasized that the movement led by Peter Obi is not seeking political validation from other parties and is focused on building its grassroots strength and political structure. He described the rumours of Obi accepting a vice-presidential slot under Atiku as “baseless and disrespectful.”

This development comes amid growing speculation of a possible alliance between opposition parties ahead of 2027. However, Obi’s camp has consistently maintained that any political arrangement must respect the autonomy and aspirations of the Labour Party and its supporters.

Ibrahim’s remarks serve as a clear message to political stakeholders that the Obedient Movement intends to play a decisive role in Nigeria’s future political landscape on its own terms.
