Lere Olayinka, the senior special adviser on media to the former governor of Rivers State and FCT minister, Nyesom Wike recently reacted after the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi paid a condolence visit to the family of late footballer Peter Rufai. According to the statements which were shared on his official X handle, he accused the former governor of hypocrisy.
The former governor of Anambra State and erstwhile Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi recently paid a condolence visit to the family of renowned Super Eagles goalie Peter Rufai.
The visit which was paid on Saturday August 23rd, generated controversies after the reports and footages from the heartfelt meeting with the family went viral across various social media platforms.
This came after popular former Super Eagles defender, Taribo West criticized the former governor for not being present as at the time of his funeral. The criticism however, caught the attention of Lere Olayinka.

According to his statements, Peter Rufai died on July 3rd, and Peter Obi waited till August 23rd to pay a condolence visit because of the comments of Taribo West. This, according to Lere Olayinka was hypocrisy as he did it to please the camera.
“Peter Rufai died on July 3, 2025, he is paying condolence visit on August 23, 2025, just because of what Taribo West said. Just anything for the Camera and media….” He taunted.
