The Director of Strategic Communication and Media for the Obidient Movement, Nana Kazaure, has recounted a moment that revealed the global spread of support for Peter Obi.
She said she was stunned during an airport trip with the former presidential candidate when a group of Indians enthusiastically declared their allegiance to the Obidient movement. She stated that the experience highlighted how far-reaching the movement has become, extending from southern Africa to South America, Europe, the UK, and even India.
She described a particular exchange with one of the individuals who identified as Obidient, only to discover he was a Nigerian born in Lagos now living in India. She emphasized the significance of such global recognition, noting that India’s transformation from hardship to progress mirrors the hopes many Nigerians hold for their own country—a testament to the kind of change the Obidient movement seeks to inspire.
She said in a recent interview with The Volume Pod from 5:25, “We have Obidients all over the world—from southern Africa all the way to South America to Europe, UK, you know, all these people. We even have Obidients in India. I nearly passed out one time at the airport. I was traveling with His Excellency, Peter Obi, Indians from everywhere—they were telling him, ‘We are Obidient! We are Obidient!’ And I asked one of them, ‘Are you Nigerian?’ He said, ‘Yes, I’m from Lagos State. I was born in Lagos.’ That’s a big deal because India is one country that we have seen how they were able to turn their lives around, turn their country around, even though they had gotten to rock bottom and somehow they were able to turn their fortunes around.”
