Dele Farotimi, a renowned human rights activist and legal practitioner has made a thoughtful contribution regarding the choice of presidential flag-bearer of the newly formed ADC coalition. According to his statements which were shared on his official X handle, he pointed out that the former Anambra governor needed to understand that he was the hope of resolving the Nigerian mess.
The jostle for the presidential ticket of the newly formed ADC coalition had generated grievous concerns amongst supporters of the alliance, especially those who believed that Peter Obi, the former Anambra governor was the better candidate.
According to Dele Farotimi, a renowned human rights lawyer and writer in a recent statement which was shared on his official X handle, the struggle by the coalition to produce a flag-bearer was unnecessary.
This was contained in a candid reply to a curious X user who remarked that the support for the former Labour Party presidential aspirant was contagious.
According to Dele Farotimi, Peter Obi needed to understand that he was not only useful to the coalition, but rather, the flag-bearer of the hope to rescue Nigeria. He concluded by stating that the former governor should be aware of his strength and that of his supporters.
“But it is PO who has to recognize that, if he is in any doubt as to who he is, and what we are. Peter Obi has to understand that he is our totem, the flag-bearer of our hope in a peaceful resolution of the Nigerian mess, and we are the coalition he needs.” He said.
