The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, has taken a swipe at politicians who have continued to project themselves as the solution to Nigeria’s challenges, particularly former Anambra State governor and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Speaking during a public engagement, Akume questioned Obi’s credibility to “rescue Nigeria” when, according to him, the former governor could not fully resolve issues in Anambra State during his tenure.

In a video shared by Symfoni TV, he stated, “What these people who are hanging around talking about coming to rescue Nigeria if Peter Obi could not rescue Anambra, he is talking of rescuing 36 states and Abuja. All these other people, I don’t want to mention their names; they came, they saw, they didn’t conquer even in their states. The way forward is what the maxim has already said: it’s like differences without division, rivalry in fellowship,” the SGF declared.

Akume, who has served as governor, senator, and now a top federal appointee, emphasized that Nigeria’s progress cannot rest on mere political rhetoric but on genuine collaboration and unity across party lines.
