Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has dismissed the credibility of the newly formed opposition coalition, warning that “The time for deceiving Nigerians is over; we know the track record of everyone.”
Speaking during an interview on Channels TV, Governor Radda questioned what exactly the coalition intends to offer Nigerians that is genuinely different from past administrations. He challenged its members to clearly state their policy plans, asking if they would, for instance, bring back fuel subsidy—and if so, how they would fund it sustainably.
Radda argued that Nigerians can no longer be swayed by recycled promises or political slogans, especially from politicians who have already held power and whose records are well known to the public. According to him, many of the figures leading the coalition have previously had the chance to serve but failed to deliver meaningful change, making their new platform unconvincing.
He further urged politicians to put the country’s interest first instead of chasing power for its own sake, warning that no one stays in office forever and that misusing state institutions for personal ambition eventually backfires.
Governor Radda concluded by emphasizing that the real path to solving Nigeria’s deepening security crisis is through constitutional reforms that would allow the creation of state police—a move already backed by 33 governors across the country.
