Former Kaduna State governor and ADC coalition chieftain, Nasiru El-Rufai, surprised many after he was spotted addressing a congregation during a church event on Saturday, September 6, 2025. The appearance drew attention as El-Rufai, a devout Muslim, had recently made headlines following a controversial police summons over an alleged unauthorized meeting in Kaduna State. His presence inside the church, captured in photos and videos, quickly went viral and sparked mixed reactions across social media.

Reacting to the development, Lere Olayinka, senior special adviser on media to former Rivers State governor and current FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, shared his thoughts in a post by Lere Olayinka on his official X handle. In a rather witty remark, Olayinka jokingly referred to El-Rufai as the newest “Daddy GO” in town, likening his presence in the church to that of a religious leader.

The viral images showed El-Rufai confidently addressing the congregation from the pulpit and later walking into the church to the amazement of onlookers. Another slide captured him warmly exchanging handshakes with a clergyman, further fueling conversations online about his surprising participation in the event.
