Amidst the ongoing international concerns over the nuclear ambitions of both the Russian Federation and the Chinese Government, American President Donald Trump revealed ongoing discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin to limit nuclear weapons, with plans to bring China into the fold.
According to a report by Anadolu English on 26 August, 2025, the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump while speaking with the journalists at the Oval Office in White House, Washington DC, revealed that he was talking with President Putin about limiting nuclear weapons, noting that he would discussed same issue with the Chinese Government under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.
In his words, President Donald Trump said “We are talking about limiting nuclear weapons. We will get China into that. We have the most. Russia has the second most, and China has the third. China is way behind, but they will catch us in five years.”
Separately, President Donald Trump while speaking during a White House press briefing alongside South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, stressed that denuclearization was a very, big game, but the willingness of the Russian Federation under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin to do that, and he thinks the Chinese Government was going to be willing to do that.
He also emphasized they have to stop nuclear weapons, underscoring the catastrophic potential of unchecked arsenals.
Regarding the ongoing efforts of the American Government to bring an end to the prolonged Ukrainian war that resulted in the death of hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians, President Donald Trump, acknowledged that the fact that he went to Alaska, was a big statement that he wanted to get that done, suggesting the visit reflects Russia’s openness to dialogue.
He also expressed frustration over Russia’s ongoing military actions in Ukraine, lamenting that every conversation he has with President Vladimir Putin was a good conversation, stating, “Every conversation I have with him is a good conversation. And then, unfortunately, a bomb is loaded up into Kiev … and Then I would get very angry.”
