Kenneth Okonkwo, the former spokesperson for Peter Obi in the 2023 presidential election, has downplayed the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by North West leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Kenneth Okonkwo, speaking on Arise TV, said, “I told you that north west has not endorsed Tinubu. As a matter of fact, it is even only politicians of APC. They are not up to 1000 Persons. I told you Northwest is millions of Persons. They have not endorsed Tinubu.”

He characterized the endorsement as an “unrepresentative gathering of political elites, disconnected from the real needs” of the region’s population.

Kenneth Okonkwo also addressed the ongoing discussions around a potential coalition to challenge the APC in the 2027 elections.

These discussions have surfaced amid reports that Atiku Abubakar may offer Peter Obi the Vice President slot.

According to Okonkwo, “I’m a member of the coalition. We have not chosen officially a platform. We are in talks, and I am part of the talks. When we choose a platform, which might not be too long from now, we will inform Nigerians.”

The APC North West leaders’ endorsement of President Bola Tinubu as their sole candidate for 2027 included a vote of confidence in Tinubu and automatic second-term tickets for APC governors in the region.
