The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reportedly stated that it is not concerned about efforts by key opposition figures to unite against the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Leadership, the acting national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ali Bukar Dalori, reportedly downplayed the significance of the opposition’s proposed coalition, asserting that it posed no real threat to the ruling party.
His comments were said to be in reaction to recent developments on Tuesday, when prominent members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including some founding figures and former top government officials, allegedly resolved to align with the coalition aimed at removing President Bola Tinubu from office in the 2027 presidential election.
It was reported that the decision was reached after a three-hour closed-door meeting held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. The group, referring to themselves as “Concerned Leaders of the PDP,” reportedly called on other members of the party, as well as patriotic Nigerians, to support the emerging alliance.
In response, the APC leadership was said to have remained indifferent. During an interview with BBC Hausa, Dalori reportedly stated that the opposition’s coalition posed no genuine challenge to the APC. He added that his priority was to promote reconciliation and strengthen party unity across all levels — from the state to the ward and local government structures.
“Nobody is talking about a coalition except in Abuja. Even in Abuja, they are in a hotel, and when they are defeated in elections, they will leave the country,” Dalori said.
