In a notable counter-insurgency mission, soldiers from the 24 Task Force Brigade, operating under Operation Hadin Kai and aided by Hybrid Forces, managed to ambush escaping Boko Haram militants in Koibe village, located in the Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.
This operation, which is part of the ongoing Operation Desert Sanity IV, took place in the early morning hours of Friday, May 9, 2025, following actionable intelligence received.
Around 2:30 a. m. , the soldiers engaged with terrorist units in Koibe village, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire. Overwhelmed by the attack, the insurgents retreated chaotically, likely suffering numerous gunshot wounds as they fled towards the Boboshe direction.
After the confrontation, the troops carried out a follow-up mission at the site of the encounter. During this operation, they uncovered two recently excavated graves in Boboshe, which contained the remains of two insurgents who had been neutralized.
However, while they were in the process of recovering the bodies around 11:00 a. m. , the soldiers unexpectedly came under fire from remnants of the terrorist group. The troops quickly retaliated with superior firepower and pursued the fleeing assailants toward the Gargash region.
This operation highlights the Nigerian military’s ongoing commitment to dismantling terrorist organizations in the Northeast and bringing lasting peace to the area, as reported by Vanguard newspaper.
