The Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory, Reverend Joseph Hayab, has revealed that a parent of one of the abducted Niger State schoolgirls died of a heart attack on Tuesday.
Speaking during an interview with Arise TV from 3:46, Hayab disclosed the tragic development while highlighting the anguish families are experiencing. “People want to see concrete action. Imagine a father, a mother whose daughter—and there’s something that probably many Nigerians don’t know. One of the parents of these girls or these children that were picked in this school, Mr. Anthony, died yesterday of a heart attack,” he said.
He explained that church leaders in Kontagora informed him of the death on Tuesday, adding that the deceased parent had three children among the abducted students and died in shock without knowing their fate.
The CAN chairman described the climate of fear among affected families. “We’ve tried today to speak to many of the parents with their numbers. They are even scared to pick calls,” Hayab stated.
Hayab spoke on the distressing natude of the children’s ordeal, noting that they have been deprived of basic necessities since their abduction. He stated that these students, accustomed to routine activities like brushing their teeth, eating regular meals, and sleeping in beds, have not bathed or slept properly in days. View, More,
