According to a report by The Times of Israel on August 5, 2025, former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett launched a blistering attack on Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, warning that Israel’s standing in the United States is at a historic low — and rapidly deteriorating.

In a detailed post on X following a recent visit to the U.S., Bennett said, “Israel has never been so isolated. Netanyahu turned us into a leper state.” He blamed Netanyahu’s domestic and foreign policies for causing widespread damage to Israel’s bipartisan support in Washington.

“The Democratic Party has clearly distanced itself,” Bennett wrote, “and now even the Republican side — once Israel’s most reliable base of support — is slipping away.”

He emphasized that while some figures from the Trump administration remain sympathetic, many in the MAGA movement are backing off, frustrated by the war in Gaza and the way it’s being portrayed in global media.

Bennett pointed to the growing global acceptance of what he called the “starvation campaign narrative” surrounding Gaza, claiming it has become an almost unquestioned belief in the American public’s mind. “Israel is increasingly seen not as an ally,” he warned, “but as a burden.”

He further accused the Israeli government of gross negligence in public diplomacy. “The people responsible for hasbara [public relations] are doing terrible damage — and they still don’t grasp the scale of the disaster,” Bennett said, adding that officials tied to the Prime Minister’s Office had allegedly been on Qatar’s payroll while conducting their duties.

Adding fuel to the fire, Bennett took aim at far-right ministers like Amichai Eliyahu, Amichai Chikli, and Bezalel Smotrich, accusing them of tarnishing Israel’s international reputation. “They are barbaric,” he said, “and their quotes will haunt our soldiers in airports around the world.”

Bennett concluded with a scathing challenge: “If Netanyahu’s propaganda team fought our external enemies with a tenth of the energy they use to crush their political rivals, Israel would be in a far better place.”

The remarks come as Netanyahu faces both internal dissent and international pressure over the direction of the Gaza war.

With former allies turning critical and diplomatic support slipping, Bennett’s message underscores growing fears that Israel’s isolation is not just political — it’s becoming personal.
