According to a report by The Jerusalem Post, the White House has grown increasingly uneasy with the actions of the Israeli government since the signing of the US-brokered Gaza deal. The report, citing a senior American official, suggests that Washington is monitoring Israel’s conduct closely amid concerns about the fragile nature of the agreement.

“[Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu is walking a very fine line with President Trump. If he continues like this, he will eventually mess up the agreement, and if he messes up the agreement, Donald Trump will turn against him,” the official said, according to the report.

The concerns in Washington intensified as Vice President JD Vance concluded his visit to Israel on Thursday. His departure coincided with the arrival of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who replaced him as part of the United States’ continued diplomatic engagement in the region. American officials are reportedly working to ensure that phase one of the Gaza deal is properly implemented and that both sides adhere to their commitments.

The Gaza agreement, mediated by the United States, marked a significant step toward de-escalating hostilities in the region after months of conflict. However, tensions remain high as both Israeli and Palestinian factions navigate the deal’s terms. According to observers, the Biden administration views the accord as a delicate but essential framework to maintain stability and prevent a return to large-scale violence.

Former President Donald Trump, who has remained vocal about the deal’s impact, discussed the matter in an interview with Time Magazine. Trump claimed that the Gaza deal effectively prevented Netanyahu from continuing the war for several years, suggesting that it curtailed Israel’s military options.

He went on to describe his perception of Israel’s domestic priorities during the conflict. “I was surprised by how focused the people of Israel were on returning the hostages,” Trump said. “I thought Israel would have sacrificed more hostages in order to keep going.” He added that when he realized the Israeli public’s overwhelming desire to bring the captives home, he told Hamas, “No more of that. You’re giving us the hostages, all of them.”

As diplomatic efforts continue, Washington’s growing concern underscores the fragility of the Gaza deal and the political balancing act facing both Netanyahu and the Trump administration in sustaining it.
