Senator Ireti Kingibe, who represents the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the National Assembly, has denied claims that she is leading or sponsoring the #EndBadGovernance protests in Abuja, as reported by Leadership.

She addressed the matter on X (formerly Twitter), refuting a viral video that falsely suggested she was at the forefront of the protests on Thursday.

Senator Kingibe expressed her shock and outrage over the spreading of what she termed as “blatant lies and misinformation.” She clarified that the video in question was from over six weeks ago during a Labour Party NWC meeting, when the NLC was protesting outside the Labour Party office. Kingibe stated that she, along with other stakeholders such as Senators, House of Representatives members, and Mr. Peter Obi, had engaged with the protesters at that time, but this footage was being misleadingly presented as recent.

She emphasized that Mr. Peter Obi was not in Abuja, and she herself had been confined to her home since Wednesday due to illness.

“Let me set the record straight: Mr. Peter Obi is not in Abuja, and I haven’t left my house since Wednesday due to illness, much less distributed food and water at the protest grounds, though that would be noble for whoever did. I condemn this orchestrated attempt to spread falsehoods and cause confusion, using it as the basis to claim I sponsored the Abuja protest,” she said.

Kingibe condemned the attempt to use old footage to falsely claim that she had sponsored the protests. She described the actions as a “shameless and irresponsible act” and vowed that she would not tolerate her name and reputation being tarnished by such deceitful individuals….Sêe_Morē
