A Civil Rights Activist, Mahdi Shehu, has criticized the national assembly for allocating billions of naira to itself in the national budget while neglecting the budget that has to do with the generality of Nigerians.
Mahdi Shehu made this statement during an interview with some journalists on News Central Television From 5:33. During the interview, Mahdi Shehu said, “the national assembly got N15 billion for the national assembly library but the national library got N983 million. The N983 Million is for the entire country. National Assembly has made it possible for us to make correct insinuations. They are not putting any hope on anybody.”
Mahdi Shehu was of the opinion that the national assembly library should not have gotten huge amount of money because it serves just the national assembly members. He maintained that it is the national library that should have gotten the bigger allocation because it serves citizens in the entire country….Vìêw–Morê
