All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, Cletus Obun, emphasized that the allegations of sexual harassment made by Senator Natasha Akpoti weren’t the main issue.

Speaking during an interview with TVC News Nigeria, he explained that Senator Natasha Akpoti’s misconduct and violation of Senate rules were the source of the drama in the Senate, resulting in her suspension.

According to him, her sexual harassment case is currently active in court, meaning the Senate House of Assembly has no business addressing that issue except for the one it’s fully concerned with.

“The sexual harassment matter is even in court, that means even the National Assembly can no longer discuss it. As she laid it there on the table, it is dead on arrival because it is already in court and not a member of the National Assembly but by somebody who is not a member of the National Assembly but who has sued the National Assembly as well” he stated clearly.

Mr. Cletus Obun added that Senator Natasha Akpoti is definitely not the first female senator in the National Assembly, highlighting that her drama was uncalled for. He claimed Oluremi Tinubu was once assaulted on the floor of the National Assembly, but things didn’t excessively escalate into what we are currently witnessing.

He said: “This is not the first woman in the Nigerian Senate, people like Florence Ita-Giwa has been there, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has been there and have even been assaulted on the floor of the house which was worst than sexual assault. Heavens did not fall, that Senate did not stop, we didn’t even see a court case on that matter.
