Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio has taken a dramatic turn.
According to an interview on TVC News from 2:09, Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi stated that Akpoti-Uduaghan has a history of making false accusations, dating back to her school days.
Nwaebonyi alleged that Akpoti-Uduaghan had attempted to blackmail a lecturer after being caught cheating in an exam.
The current petition against Akpabio has been adjourned, with the committee opting to hear from both parties.
However, Nwaebonyi claimed that Akpoti-Uduaghan’s team failed to provide evidence to support their claims, instead creating a dramatic scene.
The controversy has sparked debate about the handling of petitions and allegations of misconduct within the Nigerian Senate.
While some have expressed concerns about the credibility of Akpoti-Uduaghan’s accusations, others have argued that the Senate’s decision to adjourn the petition undermines the principles of fairness and justice.
In his own words, “When she was in school, she did it to a lecturer, when she was caught you know doing funny things in the exam hall. She tried to blackmail her lecturer, but upon investigation, it was discovered that the lady is lying. The current state of the petition is that the matter has been adjourned, even though our rules say so, the committee wanted to hear them, because the committee is an independent body that can summon anybody including the senate president. And you saw the drama that happened that portrayed that this people, didn’t come to defend their claim, they didn’t come to prove their claim, they came to create content.”
