In a video shared on Facebook, Asari Dokubo, a prominent Chieftain of the Kalabari people, reflected on his attempts to follow in his father’s professional footsteps. His father, who was both a lawyer and a judge, had hoped he would pursue a legal career. However, despite that expectation, Asari admitted he was unable to meet those aspirations.
He went on to recount his academic journey, noting that he attended several universities, including the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, in a determined effort to become a lawyer. Despite his repeated efforts and determination, he struggled academically and was unable to qualify as a lawyer.
According to him, “I refuse to settle for less throughout my life. My father, as a lawyer, as Director of Public Prosecution, and as a judge, wanted me to become a lawyer, and I struggled to become a lawyer. I went to the university to become a lawyer; I was at the University of Calabar, and I spent three full years trying to become a lawyer. I was at Rivers State University of Science and Technology, but I didn’t succeed, because all my life I didn’t want to settle for less.”
