The usually quiet Umumba Ndiagu community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State was thrown into turmoil on Tuesday after the youths of the area alleged that a fellow community member, known as Ichie Millions or Ezeani—believed to be a native doctor posing as a businessman—was using his expansive compound for kidnapping and other criminal activities.
According to The Vanguard, it was reported that the youths further claimed that it was discovered Ezeani had been killing and burying people alive within his premises. In a bid to uncover the truth, they stormed his compound and, to their shock, reportedly found soak-away pits filled with human remains.
It was alleged that Ezeani had kidnapped several victims, including pregnant women and children, and buried them alive for ritual purposes. The gruesome discovery plunged the community into deep sorrow and anger, prompting the youths to set his house ablaze.
A viral video circulating online allegedly showed the youths ransacking buildings in the compound, including what they identified as his shrine. The community was said to have uncovered these horrific acts after Ezeani was reportedly caught attempting to kidnap a 13-year-old child from the area.
This incident triggered an investigation into his activities, which eventually led to the revelation of numerous disturbing findings in his luxurious residence, which was filled with exotic cars. The community alleged that several of his victims had been buried alive in soak-away pits on the property.
While 13-year-old victim was narrating her ordeal, she said, “My father and I went to fetch firewood, which we will use to fry our garri. His men came and asked my dad for his cutlass, which he gave them. Suddenly, they grabbed me and kept me in a pit they had dug. I then started crying and the Neighborhood Watch operatives heard my cry and came to rescue me.
