In January, it was reported that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), stormed the Abuja residence of Professor Usman Yusuf, a former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), and arrested him in connection with alleged fraud amounting to N4 billion, among other charges.

According to information obtained, EFCC operatives apprehended the professor, who specializes in haematology-oncology and bone marrow transplantation, at his home around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

However while he was narrating his ordeal in the hands of the EFCC operatives during an interview (Between 41-43 minutes) on Trust TV, Professor Usman Yusuf, said that he was proposedly targeted by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in order to embarrass and dehumanize him. He alleged that what President Tinubu is concerned about presently is how he would get reelected in 2027, and that’s why his administration is witch-hunting those who are vocal against him.

He said, “This government… President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government, must not be allowed to continue in 2027. That is why we are telling our people; your freedom lies in your hands. Ballot paper; that is what is going to make you get your liberation. All this hunger they put you, all the difficulties… for what? And I tell youths, wherever you go, don’t let anyone deceive you with ethnicity or religion. Because we have tried the Muslim-Muslim, it is the Muslim that inflicted more pain to you than any other. We didn’t have this pain when we had a Christian President.”

Further talking, he said, “All this ethnicity and religion, forget it. Look at the person and the party that will make you realize better. So President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, by the time 2027 rolls in, we have data to interrogate him and present to our people.
