The Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, stirred reactions with a lighthearted remark directed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the inauguration of the Gateway International Airport.
Speaking at the event in a video shared by TVC, Abiodun recalled a moment from the past when Tinubu made the now-famous “Emilokan” declaration in Ogun State, a phrase that later became a defining slogan in Nigeria’s political discourse ahead of the 2023 elections.
The governor used the occasion to humorously remind the president of personal nicknames he was given at the time, while also playfully asking about a promised gift. His remarks drew laughter from the audience and added a lighter tone to the otherwise formal commissioning ceremony.
According to him, “Mr. President, may I remind you also that this is the state where you prophesied ‘Emilokan’ (abi beko)? You gave me the title ‘Eleyi Okanlomo’ and also called me ‘Oyibo po.’ Where is the gift, please? As I wait for the gift, I want to thank you all for listening to me. I want to wish all of you journey mercies to your various destinations. God bless you all. God bless Ogun State. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.” Read_More…
