Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has once again expressed her frustration and feeling of marginalization in the Senate Committee regarding issues affecting her constituency.

During Tuesday’s Plenary session, while considering the 2024 N98.5bn Supplementary budget for the FCT, Kingibe said that she is being excluded from key discussions and decisions affecting the territory.

As the highest elected official in the FCT, representing over four million people, Kingibe said that it was unfair to be left out of crucial meetings and budget discussions.

She stated that she was not invited to any meeting where the budget was discussed and was not aware of the procedure.

Kingibe will present her complaint in a motion tomorrow.

According to the report by Punch on Monday, she said, “Mr President, I am the highest elected person in the FCT with over four million people.

“I am not usually carried along in the issues that pertain to the FCT, especially the matters of budget.”

Speaking further, she said that the FCT supplementary budget is being presented today (Tuesday), yet she was not aware of the entire process.

She said, “The FCT supplementary budget is presented today but I am not even aware of the whole process. I was not invited to any meeting where the budget was discussed.”
