According to a report by Times of Israel, on August 5, 2025, while visiting the IDF’s Bakum induction base, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated his determination to achieve the goals of Israel’s continuing battle in Gaza.
In a speech he gave to the Armoured Corps and Combat Engineering Corps’s newest recruits, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, “These two forces are what brought us the great victories we’ve achieved so far.”
Claiming credit for the victories over Iran, the Assad government in Syria, Hamas, and Hezbollah, Netanyahu praised the recent military successes of Israel’s fighting divisions. But he stressed that the conflict’s ultimate aims had not been achieved.
Netanyahu made it clear that Israel must not be threatened by Gaza and emphasised the importance of releasing all hostages and fully defeating the terrorists in the territory.
According to the prime minister, the primary objectives of the Israeli military effort are to destroy Hamas, secure the release of hostages, and neutralise threats emanating from Gaza.
“We are not giving up on any of these missions,” he emphasised, urging the new recruits to be ready for what’s to come. Together, with the tremendous sacrifice of our male and female combat soldiers, we shall achieve these goals.
Along with more recruits being draughted than ever before, Netanyahu pointed out that this is the sixth recruiting cycle since the war started. There has been a dramatic uptick in the number of women volunteering for combat jobs, he added.
Despite mounting international appeals for prudence and humanitarian concerns, Netanyahu has made remarks as Israel readies itself for perhaps increased military operations in Gaza.
The high risks and persistent tensions in the region are reflected in Israel’s leadership’s unwavering determination to carry on until its stated war goals are realised.
