Pastor Tunde Bakare has stated that his first meeting with the late Chief MKO Abiola was a memorable experience that left a lasting impression on him.
In a video shared by Channels Television from 2:44:19, Pastor Bakare said the encounter happened when he was a second-year student at the University of Lagos. He said he was invited to give a lecture at the Lagos City Hall without knowing that MKO Abiola would be the chairman of the event. After his presentation, he said Abiola offered to give him a ride home.
Bakare said during the drive, Abiola asked about his background, and he told him where he was from. He said Abiola gave him 1,500 naira that day, an amount that was huge at the time, and he was overwhelmed by the gesture.
Pastor Bakare stated that Abiola also told him stories about his father, including how his father rode horses that matched the color of his shirts. He said he learnt more about his father from Abiola and still keeps a close relationship with Abiola’s children, especially Kola Abiola.
In Pastor Bakare’s words: “I learnt more about my father from that man and that is why up till today my door is open to all MKO’s children. I landed yesterday from Europe and the first call that I got was from Kola Abiola. He said ‘Egbon I have missed you, where are you’ and I said I have been out’. Abiola threw his door open to me. After everything that day Abiola gave me 1500 naira, I almost died because that was a lot of money” See, More, Here>>>
