According to a statement by the Adamawa State Police Command on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, a man who went to a filling station, bought petrol worth N97,850, collected N10,000 from a Point of Sales (POS) stand inside the station and eventually fled has been arrested by men of the command.

The state police command disclosed the development on its X handle on Tuesday afternoon, saying the man, Mubarak Abdulkadiri, was also suspected to have come to the filling station with a stolen vehicle. He was arrested by the operatives attached to the Mubi North Divisional Headquarters.

It was gathered that the police operatives received a report from the manager of the filling station in Mubi that the man came to the station and bought petrol worth ₦97,850. He also collected additional ₦10,000 from the POS while pretending to pay through the bank app on his phone.

He however fled with the vehicle that had a foreign registration number.

The command wrote: “Following a swift response by officers attached to Divisional Headquarters, Mubi North, he was arrested at Mubi Toll Gate and during investigation, he was unable to provide satisfactory explanation for the vehicle’s ownership and there was no document proving ownership or justify his claims.”

He was said to have given more useful information to the operatives of the command and he is expected to be charged to court at the conclusion of the investigation.
