During a meeting of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, Nyesom Wike strongly rejected the decision by the opposing faction to expel him from the party. In a recent video from 12:35, He reminded the gathering that many of the people now trying to push him out were not part of the party when it was formed and had once sought support from older members like him.
Wike pointed to examples to make his argument clearer. He mentioned that Bauchi State governor Bala Mohammed started his political journey in another party before joining the PDP, rising through the ranks because circumstances pushed him to make that move. He used this to show that people come into the party at different stages, and no one should act as though they own it more than others.
He also spoke about Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde, whom he described as a younger brother. According to Wike, Makinde once belonged to a smaller party and came seeking support from PDP leaders when he was trying to establish himself politically. Wike said he clearly remembers the people who brought Makinde to meet him and how Makinde later became part of the PDP.
Wike argued that it makes no sense for people who met him in the party, and who once relied on his support, to now attempt to remove him. He insisted he was present when the earliest ideas that shaped the PDP were being discussed and that he would not allow newcomers to force him out of the party he helped build.
In his words, “Seyi Makinde, my younger brother, he was in SDP. I know when he came to lobby, I know those who brought him to me.” View, More,
