Senator Orji Kalu, a former Governor of Abia State, has spoken about Major Kaduna Nzeogwu and the events surrounding the military coup of January 15, 1966.

Speaking in a video shared by Channels TV, Kalu said that although Nzeogwu was from Igboland, he never spoke the Igbo language because he was born and raised in Kaduna.

Kalu alleged that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was aware of the coup plot. He stated many top-ranking officers at the time knew about the plan. Kalu said that Obasanjo had just returned from India before the coup took place.

In Kalu’s words: “Major Kaduna Nzeogwu never spoke Igbo, although he is from Igbo land he was born and brought up in Kaduna and his name was Major Kaduna Nzeogwu.
