Renowned human rights expert, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, has criticized the Supreme Court for its recent rulings on election matters. In an interview with Channels Television From 30:31, Odinkalu stated that the court’s decisions have perpetuated illegitimate mandates and undermined the integrity of the electoral process.
He lamented that the court’s actions have far-reaching consequences, affecting Nigerians like himself who demand better governance. Odinkalu emphasized that the court’s rulings have essentially condoned elections without standards, paving the way for flawed electoral processes.
The professor’s comments come as the Supreme Court has faced criticism over its handling of election-related cases.
In his words; “The Supreme Court is responsible for illegitimate mandate and coming to tell us where money goes is irresponsible of the Supreme Court. What these people do affect as me as a Nigerian and so when I speak as a Nigerian, I don’t yield. It’s irresponsible on one hand to tell us that anything can go as an election, that elections can be conducted without standard”….Seë_Morë
