After the National Youth Service Corps clarified the reasons behind the denial of Ushie Rita Uguamaye’s (also known as Raye) clearance certificate, renowned human rights attorney and legal expert Inibehe Effiong recently responded. He revealed what he did after reading the NYSC announcement, based on his remarks that were posted on his official X handle.
Following the reports’ widespread dissemination on social media, opinions on the withheld clearance certificate of female NYSC member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, popularly known as “Raye,” were divided.
However, strong public criticism forced the NYSC’s administration to make a public statement explaining the reasons behind both the extension of her service and the denial of her clearance certificate.
Since they had previously denied the claim that their activities were politically motivated, many felt that the answers provided by the scheme left more to be desired.
In response, lawyer Inibehe Effiong, a well-known human rights advocate and legal expert, revealed what he did after reading the NYSC’s explanations in a recent statement posted on his official X Twitter.
The attorney said that he was obliged to react suitably to the statements in his capacity as Ushie Rita Uguamaye’s legal representative. He revealed that the explanation is inconsistent with reality.
“The statement that NYSC released regarding its decision to prolong the service period and deny Ushie Rita Uguamaye’s National Service certificate is inaccurate. As her attorney, I have given her instructions to react to the statement in a suitable manner,” he added.
