Former member of the House of Representatives and APC chieftain, Honorable Farouk Adamu Aliyu, has shared details of a private discussion he had with President Bola Tinubu, revealing the president’s candid reflections on the weight of leadership.

Speaking in an interview with Channels TV from 12:51, Aliyu made the remarks while responding to a question on what the president told him regarding insecurity in the country. He disclosed that during their recent conversation, Tinubu admitted that the pressures of the presidency often leave him with limited control over certain issues.

“Last week when I saw him, that was the issue we discussed – we discussed about the situation in the north where people are agitating. He said, ‘Look, I know there are a lot of issues – some I know, some I don’t know.’ He said, ‘Honorable, this place I’m sitting is a prison. I want you to understand, Honorable, that look, there are certain things you will not know,’” Aliyu recounted.

According to Aliyu, the exchange left him with deep sympathy for the president. “I pitied him. I sympathised. I understood that it is true – when you are a president, there are certain things you don’t know, and every problem of this country hits on the president,” he added.

The APC chieftain stressed that Tinubu’s words highlighted the enormous burden of leadership, especially in managing insecurity and agitations across the country.
